Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana to open new Club in the California neighborhood

Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana (BGCK) will be opening a brand new club – the California Boys & Girls Club – in partnership with Jefferson County Public Schools. This Club will be located at 1508 West Kentucky Street at the St. Stephen Family Life Center and be the 4th local Club operating in Louisville in addition to Newburg, Parkland, and Shawnee. The California Boys & Girls Club will be opening October of 2022 to 1st through 8th graders for the first year of operations. Each year, the Club will increase 1 grade served so members can continue to attend and grow up with the Club. By 2026, the California Club will be serving 1st graders through seniors in high school. Information about enrollment will be coming in September of 2022 on our website www.bgcky.org and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/bgckyana.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana is an out-of-school-time provider open Monday – Friday with after-school during the academic year and full-day operations during summer break. The organization’s mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those most in need of our services, to realize and develop their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. This mission is achieved by providing robust enrichment activities around 3 main focus areas: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Character & Citizenship programming.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana and St. Stephen Family Life Center have history working together. St. Stephen's outgrew its building on Kentucky Street in 1952 and they agreed to lease it to the Salvation Army Boys Club for $1 a year to support youth and family development. This location and partnership throughout the years has developed into what we know now as Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana.
